We are heading to the end of 2020 in what will be remembered as one of the fastest, yet slowest years ever! It will also be remembered not only for the pandemic but also for the way it affected how businesses operated and forced them to change. Whether that be working from home, shutting their doors completely or needing to find a new way to carry out business.

IT has been critical to any business decisions this year as we look to adapt to the impacts of Covid-19.  We have been on hand to react and advise businesses on how IT can help business change quickly and effectively. So below we outline month by month highlights of the work we have been delivering for our clients, pre and during the pandemic.

January

We assisted our client who takes online credit card payments, to strengthen their IT security and to make sure they achieved PCI-DSS compliance – which is the industry standard needed for handling credit card information.

February

Implemented a high availability, auto-scaling, eCommerce solution for a £120 Million business using Amazon Web Services. Read more here – Cloud Web Hosting Case Study – Greystone Consulting Ltd

March

Lockdown happens on March 16th 2020. We were involved in numerous pandemic contingency meetings and helping all our customers transition rapidly to various secure home working solutions, to ensure minimal business disruption. This is possibly the busiest (and strangest) month we have ever had at Greystone.

April

We continued implementing secured remote working systems and enhancing customers IT security. We also moved many of our clients to Cloud solutions to provide their business with the flexibility to work remotely. Read more here – Remote Working Case Study – Greystone Consulting Ltd

May

With most businesses now working from home, and away from their IT systems in the office, we secured various customers remote access systems by deploying Multi-Factor Authentication and Conditional Access Solutions.

June

With the rise of Teams and Zoom, people were now doing more presentations and meetings via video calls. Within Microsoft Teams people often present from SharePoint, so our job was to secure their SharePoint environments with Intune Mobile Device Management (MDM) and Mobile Application Management (MAM).

July

We helped a number of companies in the legal and medical industries by reviewing their IT security and helping them become more secure online. As a result, they were awarded Cyber Essentials Accreditation.

August

We remotely setup and migrated a care home business to use Office 365 for their email and file storage. This allowed them to continue their work securely and from different locations.

September

We undertook a companywide laptop roll out for a Manchester based firm without needing to touch the laptops or be present with staff, by using Microsoft Intune Autopilot deployment – read more here Zero-Touch Laptop Deployment – Greystone Consulting Ltd

October

Onboarded a new customer to our Fully Managed IT Support service. This exciting opportunity means we will be supporting a Cheshire based Insurance firm with around 50 staff and some pretty sophisticated IT systems.

November

One of our clients works in medical insurance, so protecting their data is critical. We secured their onsite IT systems but also implemented a secure, off-site backup solution to protect their data using Azure Backup Server.

December

Performed a migration of a customer’s web hosting environment from their physical data centre in Manchester to the Microsoft Azure Cloud. This has saved them money while improving security and up time of their web-based customer applications.

Finally, a great year-end surprise. We won another new Managed IT Support contract for a new Cheshire based customer in the medical research industry. We are pleased to be looking after their 60 staff and all their IT needs starting in 2021.

There you have it. This year, done!
